Catalog description

This course provides an orientation to the theories of educational leadership, planning, and process. In addition to leadership theory, learning progressions include reviewing current issues in education, addressing case studies in leadership, solving authentic problems, and providing practical strategies for dealing with school-based issues. Participants review personalized learning and educational leadership strategies. They reflect on their beliefs about the field of education, and begin to formulate a leadership mantra for professional practice, as a vehicle for increased achievement and sustained organizational improvement. The course includes intensive research and study of culturally-responsive teaching, learning, and leading. Participants review leadership standards for both accreditation and practice, complete a Diversity Assessment, and review the Special Education competencies required for administrators and supervisors.
