Advanced DNA Topics: Non-Human DNA Application

Catalog description

This course examines the application of non-human DNA testing and its use in forensic science and solving crime. Examples will include plants (botany), soil, microbes and pathogens, insects (entomology), companion animals (dog, cat, etc.), and wildlife (elephant and illegal trade). Presentations from invited speakers and Program Faculty will broaden student's awareness of non-human DNA research and issues. Faculty presentations will be augmented with socratic class discussions in an open and student-centered format and are not teacher-led. Prerequisite: BIOL 530W
