Catalog description

This laboratory and lecture course will introduce molecular biology concepts, techniques, and methods that are essential in forensic DNA laboratories. Topics will include ethics, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), evidence handling, examination, and sample collection, as well as DNA extraction, quantitation, amplification, and typing. Students will examine and process mock evidence as a forensic DNA analyst would. This foundation will be expanded upon in FORE 530.
