Catalog description

This course will focus on various analytical tools and techniques used to assess a potential borrower for extending short and long-term credit. Comprehensive financial statement analysis methods are stressed in the course. Students augment those skills by applying industry factors, qualitative parameters, management evaluation, and non-financial tools. Various loan structures and collateral will also be considered in the credit analysis. The 5 Cs of Credit will be taught and reinforced as applied to the credit process. The course will incorporate the tenants of the Expected Loss Model in evaluating credit transactions and in the risk rating of credits. Portfolio considerations will also be discussed. Prerequisite: FINC 530
