Duquesne University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course integrates the financial planning curriculum by emphasizing case studies that require the synthesis of knowledge from the eight domains. For each case, students will write a comprehensive financial plan and present it to the class. The more advanced topics from insurance, retirement planning, investments, and psychological factors are reviewed and applied to the holistic study of a client?s financial profile and objectives. Financial planning models, professional ethics and standards of conduct, the analysis of relevant economic and financial market data, asset allocation models, and developing a written investment policy statement are key elements of the ongoing financial planning process. Emphasis is on experiential learning through case studies, application of real data, and group collaboration and presentations. Student internships with local financial planning firms are encouraged prior to or concomitant with this course.
