Catalog description

This course covers the principles of risk management as an integral part of the overall financial planning process. Beginning with identifying and evaluating the major risk exposures to households and small businesses, risk management is often addressed by insurance protection to minimize losses. The major types of insurance include life, health, disability, long-term care, property and liability, and specific insurance needs for business firms. Analytical concepts such as the life cycle model of consumption and investment, risk pooling, calculating probable loss, and basic underwriting principles are examined as the academic basis for client recommendations.
