The notion that the world will at some time come to an end is a longstanding one in human history. Different forms of this belief appear in world religions, philosophies, popular media, and scientific cosmology. The presence today of violence between nations and peoples, economic, ecological and social upheavals, plague and death might lead one to ask, ?Is the apocalypse coming?? In this course, we consider this matter of apocalypticism with a special eye to that influential (and controversial) vision of the end given in the Bible?s Book of Revelation.
