?Is this ?The Way?? focuses on the ethical, legal, and social implications of medical science and technology as interrogated through science fiction mediums. Students will engage in a variety of assignments designed to think about not only science fiction genres but also larger social/ethical issues that have real-world implications. Through science fiction literature, television, and film, we will explore questions related to emerging medical and technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, genetic manipulation, euthanasia, cloning, social engineering and bioterrorism in order to imagine, articulate and address the ethical questions that may and should arise in response to these advancements.
