Catalog description

Earth observation is coarsely divided between in situ observations, those observations made directly of the system, and remote sensing, those observations made from further away with signals that are secondary or external to the system. This course will consider the later with the majority of the attention paid to satellite earth observation platforms, acquisition of data, and processing and analysis of data. Due to the spatial nature of these observations, geographical information systems (GIS) will be employed.
