Catalog description

This course provides students a service learning experience as a tutor equipped to render effective tutorial services within a community site. It is also designed to provide university students with academic instruction that prepares and supports them in their service learning experience as tutors. Learning through service affords students various growth opportunities. Participants often learn more deeply about themselves and their learning styles. For many students new values emerge as well as different views regarding social issues and civic responsibilities. Learning integrated with service is transformative to both combined elements. This course does not count toward field hours in the Leading Teacher Program.
