Catalog description

This course is designed to provide university students with academic instruction that prepares them for a service learning experience as a tutor equipped to render effective tutorial services within a community site. Learning through service affords students various growth opportunities. Participants often learn more deeply about themselves and their learning styles. For many students new values emerge as well as different views regarding social issues and civic responsibilities. Learning integrated with service is transformative to both combined elements. This course does not count toward field hours in the Leading Teacher Program.
