This course is designed to reflect the ?Six Guiding Principles of the Carnegie Project for the Education Doctorate (CPED, 2009): ? Creating equity, ethics, and social justice in K-12 education, higher education, and other community-facing organizations such as government and non-profit organizations. ? Understanding the impact of individuals, families, organizations, and communities in K-12 education or other organizations. ? Applying knowledge to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, organizations, and communities. ? Providing field-based opportunities to analyze problems of practice and use multiple frames to develop meaningful solutions and/or new perspectives. ? Developing a professional knowledge base that integrates both practical and academic knowledge, that links theory with systemic and systematic inquiry. ? Emphasizing the generation, transformation, and use of professional knowledge and practice. The integration of these principles is intended to support the critical inquiry, knowledge development, leadership expansion, and community of practice essential to the doctoral process in general and the creation of a dissertation proposal, specifically.
