Educational Research II: Leveraging Knowledge for Systems Improvement

Catalog description

This course is designed to prepare leaders to utilize theory to make sense of the systems in which they work. Special emphasis is placed on using theory to (a) better see systemic assets and barriers in the leader?s practice context and (b) become more intentional and effective in their leadership efforts. Building from Educational Research I, leaders will utilize skills in research literacy and argumentation to identify and map theoretical arguments, use theory to explain observations in their area of concern, draw connections between theoretical concepts and how they appear in the practice context, and begin to think about future research they may conduct.
