Catalog description

This course introduces students to agent-based modeling as a tool for exploring complex systems. Using NetLogo, students will design, implement, and analyze computational models through hands-on coursework. Students will then work collaboratively to develop a model that simulates their experiences navigating Walt Disney World?s Magic Kingdom, incorporating factors such as individual preferences, wait times, fatigue, and decision-making. Through simulation experiments, students will explore how individual behaviors and interactions shape outcomes and use their model to develop strategies for navigating the theme park. Students will also explore how agent-based modeling can be applied to study complex systems across a wide range of disciplines. Instructor approval is required for this course. Students must register for both DTSC 120 and DTSC 121.
