Catalog description

This course transforms students' relationship with audio, shifting from casual listening to critical analysis and professional production. Students will develop a standardized sound post-production literacy, mastering the fundamentals of Digital Audio Workstation software for diverse multimedia applications (film, video, and audio-only assets). The course introduces the complete workflow: from critical listening and sound measurement to recording techniques like ADR and Foley, followed by professional post-production mixing (using busses and stems), and basic mastering. By the conclusion of Sound Design I, students will possess the language, conceptual knowledge and technical skills necessary to deliver professional-grade audio for any subsequent digital media project.
