Catalog description

This course will provide a detailed description of the biochemical and biophysical methods that are used to characterize macromolecules. This course is designed to complement CHEM 508 and provide the students with an in-depth appreciation of the tools available to characterize the structure and function of macromolecules. Areas that will be covered include membrane biophysics, mass spectrometry, the interaction of matter with light, receptor pharmacology, chrystallographic methods, electron microscopy, and computational biology. Students taking this course should have at minimum successfully completed 1 semester of Biochemistry
