One of the most important facets of being a scientist is being able to read, and produce, scientific literature, as this is the most common way that we disseminate our research to the world. As the central science, Chemistry covers a wide range of topics, and the scope and style of article can vary significantly with discipline, however will share common elements. This course is aimed at allowing graduate students to become familiar with different types of research article, from original research papers, reviews, perspectives and opinion articles. Additionally, the peer-review process will be discussed from the perspective of a frequent peer-reviewer (the instructor) and when possible a journal editor-in-chief (TBD). Graduate students will have the chance to critically assess current literature and hone their skills in performing peer review.
