Catalog description
This course is a continuation of CHEM 401. The course presents an overview of the metabolic transformations of fatty acids and the complex lipids, amino acids and the purine and pyrimidine nucleotides. The second half of the course offers a discussion of the molecular basis of genetics, including DNA and RNA metabolism, protein biosynthesis, and an introduction to the biochemical basis of recombinant DNA methodology. Lecture, three hours. Prerequisite: C or better in CHEM 401.
