Catalog description

Students will learn the basic techniques used in a forensic laboratory. They will learn microscopy, IR, visible spectroscopy, gas and liquid chromatography, and GC-MS. These techniques will be used to analyze hair, fibers, fingerprints, metal residues, flammable liquids and pharmaceuticals. Laboratory, six hours. Prerequisite: C or better in CHEM 340. CHEM 305L must be taken concurrently, or students must have a C or better in CHEM 305L if taken previously. Students must concurrently register for CHEM 371R.
