Catalog description

Students are given a firm foundation in the fundamentals of structure and reactivity of organic compounds. Emphasis is on the basic mechanistic principles of the reactions and the strategies used to synthesize organic compounds. The use of NMR and IR spectroscopy to identify organic compounds is also emphasized. Lecture, three hours. Students must register concurrently for CHEM 211L. Prerequisites: CHEM 122 or 152.
