Catalog description

This seminar provides a weekly supervised clinical experience for doctoral students. Emphasis will be on the integration of theory and research with practice in order to develop the students' ability to conduct individual and group counseling and consultation sessions with children, adolescents, adult clients, and other related family members and professionals. Emphasis will be on direct and indirect clinical contact that will promote the prospective counselors' development in assessment, intervention, evaluation, cultural competence, case conceptualization and documentation, self-evaluation, consultation, effective use of supervision and other areas related to their competence as a counselor. Video and audio tape analysis of their counseling experiences may be required.
