Catalog description

Monsters, Wizards, and Saints: What do the Amazon warriors tell us about chivalry or Merlin about angels? This class explores Christian literature from the Bible to J. R. R. Tolkien that incorporates preexisting mythology and magic, crafting narratives of both criticism and harmony. Readings will span from ancient Egyptian and Sumerian mythology, to Beowulf and Shakespeare, to nineteenth and twentieth century works like Dracula and J. R. R. Tolkien.
