Biomedical Engineering Capstone II

Catalog description
The second semester of the capstone design course continues with prototype design and construction. Subsequently, students will perform testing of the solution and provide an engineering and economic analysis of the solution. Students present the solution at the end of the semester in the form of a presentation slide deck and pitch, as if presenting to potential investors. Students will develop a design history file to comply with regulatory requirements and good design practices. Students will also learn about marketing, intellectual property, and clinical study basics. Students will be encouraged to participate in local research symposiums and design competitions. Students will spend a minimum of 6 hours a week outside of class time working on prototype design and construction.
