Catalog description
This course covers the theory and application of fluid statics and dynamics, with particular emphasis on systems encountered in biomedical engineering as well as the application of physical principles of fluids to solve complex and multifaceted problems, primarily in biology and medicine. Properties of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids, hydrostatic and dynamic forces, laminar and turbulent flows, and internal and external biological flow examples will be covered. Principles of continuity, conservations of mass, energy and momentum and their application to biological systems such as blood circulatory system will be explored too. Prerequisite: MATH 314, BMED 210, BIOL 207
