Catalog description

This course provides Ph.D. students with the opportunity to engage in intensive, specialized training through an external educational program offered by a research institute, professional organization, or scientific training center. Designed to supplement Advanced Topics requirements, the course focuses on concepts, methodologies, and hands-on skills that may not be available through existing university offerings. Students participate in lectures, workshops, discussions, and/or practical training led by experts in the field, gaining exposure to cutting-edge research techniques and interdisciplinary perspectives. Course content varies depending on the selected program but must be directly relevant to the student's doctoral research and academic development. Successful completion requires active participation and fulfillment of all requirements established by the host organization. Academic credit is awarded upon submission of documentation verifying completion and a brief summary describing how the training contributes to the student's scholarly goals. The course must be approved by the graduate director.
