Foundations of Athletic Training: Risk Assessment and Injury Prevention

Catalog description

This lecture and laboratory course is designed to introduce learners to the athletic training profession and their roles and responsibilities as part of the interprofessional sports medicine team. Students will learn current principles and professional practice in the prevention of acute and chronic medical conditions and the underlying theory and practice of reducing risk of injury/illness associated with participation in physical activity. This course addresses the selection, fabrication, and application of tape, braces, and other protective equipment and orthopedic devices used in sports medicine.
