Catalog description
This onsite class examines the art of the high Renaissance and Baroque era in Rome through the lens of its three greatest masters, Michelangelo, Caravaggio and Bernini. Students will experience masterpieces like the David and the Sistine Chapel firsthand while learning about the lives and formation of the artists that made them as well as the era that produced them. This course teaches students about the techniques used to produce sculptures and paintings, the historical context to interpret them and explores the controversies that great art generates across different cultures and generations.
