Ecological Theology and Ethics

This course introduces ecological theology and ethics by tracing how ecological thinking emerged as a theological concern in the twentieth century and continues to reshape Christian doctrine and moral reflection. Students examine competing accounts of the ecological crisis and Christianity's role in both contributing to and responding to it, drawing on biblical sources,Christian tradition, and ecological science. The course explores how ecological awareness relates to central theological loci—creation, anthropology, Christology, and eschatology—while also assessing the methodological legacy and limits of ecological theology's early focus on cosmology and worldview.
