Catalog description
This course will explore and examine critically how particular discourses (within different genres and media) relate to Nuyorican politics, art, culture, and society. Students will develop interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication modes and will be exposed to cultural products and practices of the people of the Puerto Rican community in New York to understand perspectives while developing intercultural competence. Students will interact with community members in a variety of ways. This course will be taught in English at Duke in New York Summer Program.
