Catalog description

Explores the intersection of food, environment, and culture in Turkey through advanced Turkish language instruction. *Focuses on themes such as sustainable agriculture, regional cuisines, food justice, culinary heritage, and the politics of consumption. Engages with authentic materials: newspaper articles, documentaries, podcasts, recipe blogs, and oral histories—all in Turkish. *Includes written and spoken assignments: reflective essays, debates, interviews, and presentations on Turkish foodways. The course is hybrid incorporating both in-person and online modalities.
