Introduction to Robotic Surgery

Catalog description

Robotic surgery is a growing field that benefits from early and longitudinally sustained practice. Interns in General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Urology commonly are taught bedside assist and robotic console modules intern year in a simulation environment. This one-semester hybrid course consists of in-person bedside assist and robotic console skills instruction in the Surgical Education and Activities Lab (SEAL), combined with independent practice. Students will learn to perform simulated robotic procedures such as colectomy, hernia repair, cholecystectomy, and hysterectomy, along with associated anatomy. Upon completion of the course, students will be equipped to pass intern-year robotic module service requirements.
