Brief Experience in Clinical Radiation/Oncology

Radiation therapy plays an important role in the care of many patients with cancer. Students will begin this course with a brief orientation and familiarization with helpful educational resource(s). This will be followed by clinical instruction in the ambulatory clinics of the Radiation Oncology department at Duke. Students will have an opportunity to observe/participate in the evaluation and care of patients before, during, and after their radiation therapy. As part of their rotation, they will also have the opportunity to participate in some basic treatment planning to get a better idea of how personalized treatment plans are created for our patients. Credit: 1. Enrollment Max 3. Offered all terms/all sections. Location: Duke Cancer Center, Level 00.
