Catalog description

This course examines various aspects of inequality in the United States. (1) Economic inequality: the unequal distribution of wages, income, and wealth; (2) Political inequality: inequality in turnout and political participation, the role of money and special interests, and the differential responsiveness of lawmakers to the interests of the rich and the poor; (3) Health inequality: inequality in various health outcomes, life expectancy, and suicide, as well as unequal access to care and prevention measures. Throughout the course, practical sessions will familiarize students with available data sources and software to analyze it.
