Catalog description

The Practice & the Health System courses (PHS 1, 2, 3, 4) provide in-depth exploration of PA Practice within the U.S. health care system, with a focus on PA professional competency development. An interprofessional team of faculty provides instruction and leads conversations on various aspects of PA professional behaviors and practice, including topics such as: the history of the PA profession, healthcare systems and health policy, population health, team-based care, evidence-based practice and quality improvement. The third portion of the course (PHS 3) continues discussion of topics related to PA professional practice within the health system, focusing on topics including: overview of certification and licensure, applied evidence-based practice, and self-assessment of professional competency development.
