Practice and the Health System II

Catalog description
The Practice & the Health System courses (PHS 1, 2, 3, 4) provide in-depth exploration of PA Practice within the U.S. health care system, with a focus on PA professional competency development. An interprofessional team of faculty provides instruction and leads conversations on various aspects of PA professional behaviors and practice, including topics such as: the history of the PA profession, healthcare systems and health policy, population health, team-based care, evidence-based practice and quality improvement. The second portion of the course (PHS 2) will continue discussion of the PA role in the healthcare system, including access and advocacy, shared decision-making, epidemiologic methods, and applying scientific evidence to patient care. Credits: 2.
