Catalog description

The Practice & the Health System courses (PHS 1, 2, 3, 4) provide in-depth exploration of PA Practice within the U.S. health care system, with a focus on PA professional competency development. An interprofessional team of faculty provides instruction and leads conversations on various aspects of PA professional behaviors and practice, including topics such as: the history of the PA profession, healthcare systems and health policy, population health, team-based care, evidence-based practice and quality improvement. The first part of the course (PHS 1) will focus on the PA professional role, foundations in understanding the healthcare system and health policy, public and population health, medical ethics, team-based practice, and approach to evidence-based care. Credit: 1
