Introduction to Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Catalog description

This two-week course provides an exposure to the evaluation, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, management, and follow-up of patients with infectious diseases or possible infectious diseases. Students will work closely with the pediatric infectious diseases team on the general infectious diseases service, especially the fellow and attendings on the inpatient service; our service is primarily inpatient based but students will also join us in clinic. They will have the opportunity to provide the initial assessment and management plans for patients referred to pediatric infectious diseases. Students that elect to take this two-credit option are not eligible to enroll in PEDS 421C for the 3-4 credit option.
