Catalog description

In Pediatric Congenital Cardiology, medical students will observe and participate in the care of a unique patient population through a multidisciplinary approach. Students will have the unique opportunity of caring for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease from a clinical side, an interventional side, and a surgical side. In doing so, they will get a brief introduction into the importance of a team approach to complicated medical decisions and procedures in a field at the cutting edge of modern medicine. Please note that procedural experiences are all observational due to complexity (participation is generally a fellow level experience). Please contact Dr. Ashley Dischinger by email at [email protected] at least one week prior to the rotation start date to confirm the meeting location and time, as location and arrival time may vary daily. Secondary contact is Amanda Picart CPNP, [email protected] or Dana Smith, 919-668-4745. Credit: 1. Enrollment: max 1, min 1. Ashley Dischinger, MD; Amanda Picart, NP
