Autopsy Pathology

Catalog description

The course is intended to introduce students to the autopsy as an investigative tool. Anatomic-clinical correlation is emphasized. Students work directly with one or more members of the pathology department. They first view autopsies and then assist in the performance of autopsies under supervision. They work up these cases with particular attention to correlations with clinical and experimental medicine, help prepare the final autopsy reports, and work essentially at the level of a house officer. Students are expected to write up one full autopsy report for an autopsy they participated in as their final project.
