Catalog description
Students will spend 1 week in one of the prenatal diagnostic units within Duke. They will divide their time between diagnostic ultrasound and genetic counseling. There will be time allotted for lab time in the cytogenetics lab. The student will be expected to learn common fetal malformations, genetic disorders and syndromes and be able to discuss their etiologies and evaluation. The student will be expected to understand common screening techniques in the prenatal period including pedigree analysis and risk assessment. Credit.1 Enrollment Max. 1.
