Catalog description

This 4-week advanced rotation will allow medical students to experience Medical Neuro-Oncology. Students will rotate in the Brain Tumor Center (BTC) Clinic, located in Cancer Center Clinic 3-1, with medical neuro-oncology faculty and interact with neuropathology faculty at the neuropathology consensus conference. Students will develop a clinical foundation in the care of brain tumor patients and will have the chance to care for patients with primary and metastatic brain malignancies during all times of the illness trajectory (at diagnosis, during treatment, stable disease, at tumor progression, and transitioning to palliative care). Attendance at weekly adult and pediatric neuro-oncology tumor board, weekly neuropathology consensus conference, monthly integrative neuro-oncology conference, and monthly research educational meeting is encouraged for all students in this rotation.
