Explore the functional organization of the nervous system. Discover the integrative actions of neural circuits, their physiological properties, and the neuroanatomical connections that constitute systems for sensory perception and bodily movement. Course employs principles and practices of team-based learning. Weekly laboratory activities examine the human brain and spinal cord, demonstrate neural phenomena underlying sensory perception, and the means by which neural signals are conveyed to effect movement. Computational approaches to systems neuroscience are considered. Course required for Neuroscience major and open to anyone. Prior exposure to Neuroscience in the first year is recommended.
