Medical Professionalism and the Arts

a. This course for MS3 and MS4 students integrates several fields in the medical humanities including poetry, short story, visual art, graphic medicine, medical anthropology, and narrative medicine. The aims of the course are to use the humanities as a tool to promote critical reflection with special attention the structures and systems which influence patient care and guide professional and personal identity formation. Additional attention will be given to the use of the arts to promote flourishing and wellbeing amongst a fractured healthcare landscape. Permission of instructor is required for enrollment.
