Catalog description

This rotation provides a brief introduction to the role of a clinical infectious diseases consultant with a focus on infectious diseases diagnostics and antibiotic use. The course is structured around 2 weeks on the Inpatient Infectious Diseases Consult Service (DUH or VA). Your learning will occur from direct care of patients supplemented by independent study, infectious diseases grand rounds, journal club, and case conference presentations. Students that have taken the second year, two-week Clinical Infectious Disease Selective, Medicine 231C are not eligible to enroll in this course. Students that take this 2-week elective may not enroll in the 4-week Medicine 440C elective.
