Catalog description

This course provides incoming first-year students with an intensive study of core mathematical concepts and metacognitive tools to prepare for success in Duke's gateway STEM classes. Mathematical content will focus on topics most needed to enter into calculus, these may include functions, algebra practice, and building intuition around rates of change, but may vary with need. Metacognitive content will focus on reflection and self-assessment, adopting a growth mindset, and enhancing self-efficacy. Students will also be introduced to campus resources for support.
