What can we learn about war when we listen to the voices of women who lived through it? This course dives into the often-overlooked stories of women who lived through political violence—not just as survivors but also as soldiers, mothers, and witnesses. Through personal accounts and literary narratives from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, we will examine how women's stories challenge traditional, male-centered understandings of war. This course invites students to critically engage with the intersection of gender, politics, and memory, exploring how women's stories reshape perspectives on war and violence.
