Typical iterations might investigate Roman concept and practice of writing history from Cato to Ammianus Marcellinus; study of Roman oratory (readings might include Cicero, Quintilian, Tacitus); and/or philosophical texts (readings might include Lucretius, Seneca, Pliny the Elder, Vitruvius, Augustine, Boethius).
