Catalog description

This course will focus on reporting and writing about societal trends, human interest stories, and cultural changes in China – all through the lens of international affairs. Students will pitch, report, write, and edit two original feature stories about issues and trends at DKU or beyond over the session; their best story will then be revised for website publication. We will also explore how international correspondents provide coverage of global or local issues in a foreign country for a worldwide audience, and examine some of the best international reporting from the last 30 years – from 'legacy' media outlets like the New York Times, to cutting-edge new media outlets like Buzzfeed. 002193
