1 section
Catalog description
Comparative politics is the study of politics occurring primarily within countries. This course teaches students to classify, compare, and contrast polities according to the way they organize their domestic politics, and thereby complements POLSCI 101: International Politics. The focus throughout is on the institutional 'rules of the game' which alternately enable and constrain political activity. Topics covered include democratic and authoritarian regime types, institutions like parties and elections, and the origins and effects of institutions. 001136
