Catalog description

This course provides an introduction to design as a critical and creative practice within the context of computational domains. Topics covered include concepts in graphic and information design, including synergies, resonances, and contradictions between mathematical and artistic approaches and traditions. The course also includes an introduction to design thinking as a trans-disciplinary phenomenon encompassing iterative development cycles, structured and emergent behaviors, divergent thinking, and transferable methods. The emphasis will be on both scientific and artistic approaches to knowledge production, creativity, and communication, and how cross-functional project teams can work together in generative and productive ways. 001583
